Today’s internet offers more than email messages, entertainment options and social media connections. It enables us to work from home, receive telehealth services from medical professionals and remote learn.

Being connected to high-speed internet is no longer a luxury or a convenience. It’s a necessary part of our daily lives. That’s why Chariton Valley provides fast and reliable broadband service, so you and your family stay productive, healthy and interconnected with the world.

Now, the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), is helping to connect families and households struggling to afford internet service.

Overview of the ACP

Established by Congress in 2021, the ACP is a longer-term program, replacing a similar but temporary program launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. Eligibility for the program is based on financial need, and there are several ways to qualify.

Benefits of the ACP

The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one discount of up to $30 per month for broadband service per eligible household and one device discount per eligible household.

Eligibility Requirements

As mentioned, the ACP is based on financial need. A household is eligible if one member of the household meets at least one of the criteria set forth by the FCC. Visit www.cvalley.net/acp/ to find out if you’re eligible.

How to Enroll

Enrollment is a simple two-step process. Eligible households must both apply for the program and contact a participating provider, such as Chariton Valley, to select a service plan.

To start, visit acpbenefit.org to submit an application or print out a mail-in application.

Then, complete the consent form. This form must be completed electronically and returned to Chariton Valley to have the credits applied to your account.

Remember, both steps are required –  completing an application and contacting a participating provider.
