Frequently Asked Questions Updated November 16, 2021

You have until December 31st, 2021 to transfer to another wireless/mobile service provider. If you do not take action prior to this date, your service will be deactivated.  We encourage you to begin looking for alternatives immediately. We will continue to keep you apprised of additional information should it become available.

Chariton Valley will not automatically move you to another provider. You have until December 31st, 2021 to transfer to another wireless/mobile service provider of your own choosing. If you do not take action prior to this date, your service will be deactivated. We encourage you to begin looking for alternatives immediately. We will continue to keep you apprised of additional information should it become available.

You will be notified by text message or another form of communication when Verizon is able to port your number. Chariton Valley acknowledges hardships you may be experiencing during this transition period and is working tirelessly to do everything we can to make porting to Verizon available in your area as soon as possible.

You have three options:

  1. Recycle your device – If you recycle your device, you will not have to pay your remaining device payment balance. Your device must be in working condition to receive the credit. Please go here to recycle your device.
  2. Trade in your device to Verizon – Check go.vzw.com/unlimitedplan for the latest offers and promotions. Please note that you will get a final bill from Chariton Valley if you have a remaining device payment balance.
  3. Keep your current device with Verizon – Depending on the device, you may bring it to Verizon. To check your device eligibility with Verizon, go to https://www.verizon.com/bring-your-own-device. Please note that you will get a final bill from Chariton Valley if you have a remaining device payment balance.

You will not be required to pay an early termination fee when you select your plan from another provider. However, you will be required to pay the remaining balance owed for any Chariton Valley devices and services.  Chariton Valley is offering to release you of your financial obligation of the device if you recycle it at https://www.cellularrecycler.com/cvrecycle/. You may also recycle other devices at the same time for which you have no more need. You will not receive compensation or value for the additional devices recycled.

This will depend on the provider you select. If you have a newer model smartphone, there is a high likelihood you can keep your device and simply activate new service with a SIM card from your new provider.  Once you have a new account and service established with your new provider, we will disconnect your current service with Chariton Valley.  After this process is completed, you will be able to begin service with your new provider on the same day.   **IMPORTANT** If you port your number (e.g. take your number with you), Chariton Valley will automatically disconnect your services. If you obtain a new number, you will have to notify Chariton Valley of the date you need your Chariton Valley services disconnected.

In regards to final billing, Chariton Valley will apply any deposit and the balance you may owe on any device onto your Chariton Valley account.  Every Chariton Valley customer with a remaining payment balance on a phone received a second letter identifying the device and the remaining balance on that device. Once you have disconnected services with Chariton Valley, either automatically from porting your number or by direct notification from you, Chariton Valley will send you additional information in regards to your account.  This will include the final amounts billed to your account, contact information, and options for handing your device balance.

Here are several options available regarding your Chariton Valley phone:

  1. Take your device with you to your new provider. The balance you owe on those devices will be billed to your account. If you have your Chariton Valley bill automatically deducted from your checking/savings account, you may want to stop automatic payment at this time, or the entire balance will be deducted from your checking/savings account. You can do this on your ebill account or we can assist with this. If you need to set up a payment plan or choose to continue with auto-payment but would like a different amount deducted, please email [email protected] or call us at 660-395-9681.
  2. If you wish to recycle your devices, we will release you of the financial obligation of your device. Visit the recycle site here and submit your device as soon as possible to avoid being billed for the remaining balance of your device(s). You will print off a pre-paid shipping label and take to your nearest UPS drop-off location. Once the recycler receives your device, they will automatically notify Chariton Valley. Chariton Valley will remove any balance owed on the device submitted to be recycled.
  3. Trade in your device. Some providers are offering a trade-in value on your device and applying that value to your new bill with your new provider. Please note that although your new carrier is providing this credit to your new account, you will still owe Chariton Valley for the balance of the device.  If you have your Chariton Valley bill automatically deducted from your checking/savings account, you may want to stop automatic payment at this time, or the entire balance will be deducted from your checking/savings account. You can do this on your ebill account or we can assist with this. If you need to set up a payment plan, or choose to continue with auto-payment but would like a different amount deducted, please email [email protected] or call us at 660-395-9681.

When you choose a new plan with another provider, your chosen provider can port your current number. However, this must be completed prior to December 31st, 2021. Service will be terminated for those who have not selected another provider by December 31st, 2021. If your service is terminated for failure to port to another provider, you will be required to get a new phone number.

You may be able to retain your current mobile device if purchased in the last couple of years. Retaining your current device depends on your new provider’s requirements and restrictions. We recommend you verify with your new provider. You will still owe for any phone still financed with Chariton Valley. We understand other wireless providers may offer you a credit if you trade-in your device. While this is your choice, we recommend you carefully consider your options. Chariton Valley is offering to release you of your financial obligation of the device if you recycle it at https://www.cellularrecycler.com/cvrecycle/ You may also recycle other devices at the same time for which you have no more need. You will not receive compensation or value for the additional devices recycled.

Coverage areas vary depending on provider. You have until December 31st, 2021 to transfer your wireless/mobile service to another provider of your choosing. We will share any available promotions to help facilitate the transition to another service provider.
