PALMYRA, MO — July 21, 2026 — Chariton Valley partnered with Northeast Power through the Co-ops in Action program on Monday, July 20, 2026, to complete a series of community improvement projects in Palmyra, Missouri. Volunteers worked alongside Main Street Palmyra and Palmyra Parks & Recreation to enhance public spaces and prepare community facilities for upcoming events, including the Marion County Fair.
The day began with volunteers assisting Main Street Palmyra at the future ‘Patio at Flower City’ location in downtown Palmyra. The team pulled weeds, installed landscaping fabric, spread rock, and removed litter to help transform the area into an inviting community gathering space. These improvements support ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Palmyra and create welcoming spaces for residents and visitors.
Volunteers then partnered with Palmyra Parks & Recreation to complete maintenance and beautification projects at Flower City Park. Projects included power washing park facilities and painting benches throughout the park as preparations continue for the Marion County Fair and other seasonal activities.
“Co-ops in Action is about neighbors helping neighbors and making a tangible difference in the communities we serve,” said Kaylie Teter, Community Affairs Coordinator at Chariton 
Valley. “Whether it’s supporting downtown revitalization efforts or helping prepare public parks for community events, these projects strengthen local organizations and create spaces that everyone can enjoy. We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside Main Street Palmyra and Palmyra Parks & Recreation on these meaningful improvements.”
Founded in 2017, Co-ops in Action brings local cooperatives together to serve their communities through hands-on volunteerism. Through collaborative projects such as these, Chariton Valley and Northeast Power continue their commitment to supporting community organizations and improving quality of life throughout Northeast Missouri.
Community groups interested in being considered for a future Co-ops in Action project can apply through a community request process. Applications are reviewed quarterly, with projects selected based on community impact and feasibility. The host organization provides materials, while cooperative volunteers contribute the labor and teamwork needed to complete the project.
