JACKSONVILLE, MO – May 5, 2025 – Chariton Valley (CV) and Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) continue to strengthen their long-standing partnership through the collaborative community outreach initiative, Co-ops in Action. Launched in 2017, the program was designed to unite the efforts of both cooperatives in making a difference in the communities they serve.
Through quarterly service projects, employees from MEC and CV come together to support local organizations in need. Today, volunteers gathered at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville to clean headstones in preparation for Memorial Day.
This meaningful project reflects the heart of the Co-ops in Action mission, working together to honor and support those who’ve made sacrifices
for their country and community.
The Missouri Army National Guard also played a key role in today’s project, providing valuable support as part of an effort to honor our veterans. Their participation highlights the power of partnership in paying tribute to those who served.

MEC and CV select projects through a request process where community groups apply to have work completed for their organization. A committee reviews the applications quarterly and selects projects to complete based on feasibility and impact on the community. During the volunteer workday, the organization provides the materials needed for the project, and the cooperatives provide the labor. All 2025 projects are scheduled; however, 2026 project requests are currently being accepted for consideration. Interested organizations can apply at www.maconelectric.com or www.cvalley.net.
