PROFILE:
Chris Hayward has resided in the Chariton Valley service area for 61 years. He is currently retired. He spent 30 years working at Chariton Valley in various roles, ranging from technician to management. Chris is married to Linda, and together they have five children and fifteen grandchildren. He is active in the community and has served on the Salisbury Board of Public Works, Salisbury City Council, Salisbury Fire Department, Huntsville Fire Department, Lake Nehai Board of Directors, Salisbury Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He is currently serving on the Library Board in Salisbury.
Message to the Members:
I am honored to have served on the Chariton Valley Board of Directors for the past three years. I remain committed to supporting the company’s ongoing growth and ensuring that employees are equipped to deliver our service to the customers. Jared Meyer

Jared Meyer has lived in the Chariton Valley service area for forty one years and currently lives in rural Salisbury, Missouri. He currently serves as the Eastern District Commissioner for Chariton County. Jared is married to Samantha Meyer and together they have four children. Jared also serves on the Peace Lutheran Church Board of Directors, the Chariton County Economic Development Board, the Chariton County Extension Council and is a volunteer baseball coach.
Message to the Members:
I bring a diverse background of hands-on experience, leadership, and strategic planning that I believe would be valuable to the Chariton Valley Board of Directors. My experience as both a carpenter and a farmer has given me a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of rural communities and their needs. In addition to my trade and agricultural experience, I have led crews of workers, which has strengthened my leadership and team management skills. I’m comfortable with setting goals, organizing workflow, and establishing budgets, all of which are essential for overseeing projects and ensuring efficient use of resources. Furthermore, my involvement in making long-term planning decisions for the county demonstrates my commitment to community development and strategic thinking. I understand the importance of balancing immediate needs with long-term growth, and I believe this perspective would be beneficial in guiding Chariton Valley’s direction and success. Overall, I offer a mix of practical experience, leadership, and planning capabilities that align well with the responsibilities of a board member.
As a board member, my vision is to ensure that every member of our rural community has access to fast, reliable, and affordable fiber internet. I believe high-speed connectivity is essential for economic growth, education, healthcare, and quality of life.
