ESTABLISHING A LIVING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Establish a Living Memorial Scholarship
--in honor of a loved one
--in memory of a loved one
--in honor of a group
--in honor of an organization
--in honor of a class
--etc. etc.
The Living Memorial Scholarship was incorporated in May of 1985 as a not-for-profit, Missouri organization for the purpose of the advancement of education and to administer funds for educational scholarships. Jim Hutchinson was elected president of the corporation in 1985. The first Living Memorial Scholarship formed was at the death of Randolph County Sheriff Orville Price. At the formation of each scholarship, criteria and a selection committee are established with suggestions from the family, organization, or designated individual.
The Rothwell Scholarship monies come from a trust established by C. L. Rothwell. All other scholarship money is invested in insured certificates of deposits or government backed bonds. The rate of return determines the dollar amount of the scholarship. The principal remains invested, only the interest is used for the scholarship money distributed to the recipients.
The Living Memorial Scholarship, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization, and contributions are tax deductible. The officers are bonded and financial records are audited annually.
Memorial Scholarships can etch a memory into the sands of time. It is a way of remembering and honoring a life by creating a memorial that benefits each succeeding generation. The legacy it creates is multiplied by each recipient.
The form to establish a Living Memorial Scholarship is available by clicking here (PDF)

The
certificates presented at high school award assemblies will be the only
notification to scholarship recipients. It is then the recipients’
responsibility to claim monies as follows.

proof of enrollment by September 15, the scholarship monies will revert to
the alternate. Alternates then have two weeks from date of notification to
provide the required documentation.

and proof of enrollment for the spring semester must be received by February
