Hearing Aid Compatible

Chariton Valley offers many devices that are Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) for the hearing impaired.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) defines Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) for wireless devices in terms of radio-frequency (RF) emissions and telecoil coupling. Cell phones are tested to see if they comply with the FCC’s definition of hearing aid compatibility.

M refers to the RF emissions level of the handset device, and means the device is intended for use with hearing aids in microphone mode. The higher the “M” rating number on the device, the more likely the device can be used with a hearing aid on the microphone setting.

T refers to the device’s telecoil coupling ability, and means the device is intended for use with hearing aids in telecoil mode. The higher the “T” rating number on the device, the more likely the device can be used with a hearing aid on the telecoil setting. A telecoil is a small device that is built into some hearing aids for use with the telephone as well as assistive listening devices. To use the telecoil, generally either the hearing aid is switched to the “T” position or a button on the hearing aid is pushed to select the telecoil program. Some newer hearing aids will automatically switch to telecoil mode when using a phone. The telecoil picks up magnetic fields generated by telephones and converts these fields into sound. Telecoils are particularly useful for telephone communication because they permit the volume control of a hearing aid to be turned up without creating feedback or “whistling,” and background noise can be reduced especially when using cell phones in noisy places. A hearing health professional can determine whether a hearing aid contains a telecoil and how it is activated.

Location and Location Based Services
While roaming off of the CVW network, functionality and accuracy will vary and may yield highly inaccurate results or no results at all. Location Based Services available on select devices and feature packs. Location data may not be available to third-party applications.
CVW knows the general location of your phone or wireless device whenever it is turned on. This is necessary for routing of incoming calls, delivering wireless content and properly billing your service. It is also necessary for providing enhanced emergency 9-1-1 service to public safety answering points or emergency medical service providers who have installed the necessary equipment to use location information. In addition, we may disclose location information to a governmental entity or law enforcement authority when served with lawful process or reasonably believe there is an emergency that involves the risk of death or serious physical harm.
CVW offers access to Location-Based Services that use your location information to provide the service you requested. Please review the terms and conditions for each service for additional information about how the information will be used or disclosed. CVW may also use location information to create aggregate data from which your personally identifiable information has been removed or obscured. Such aggregate data may be used for services like traffic-monitoring. It is your responsibility to inform users on your account that the location of the phone or device they are using may be tracked. In addition, if you download and use any third-party software application that accesses location information generated by your phone or device, it is your responsibility to investigate the privacy policies of any such third parties.
CVW follows the CTIA’s Best Practices Guidelines for Location-Based Services, which can be found at http://www.ctia.org.
Mobile Email: Requires email account with compatible Internet service provider and a downloaded or preloaded email application for the wireless device. Access and use of Mobile Email is billed by total volume of data sent and received (in kilobytes). Email attachments cannot be sent, downloaded, read, or forwarded on the mobile device. Wireless data usage charges will apply for downloading the application and any upgrades.
My Browse Data Plans: My Browse Data plans may ONLY be used with CVW certified Laptop Data Cards and other devices for the following purposes: (i) Internet browsing; (ii) email; and (iii) intranet access (including access to corporate intranets, email, and individual productivity applications like customer relationship management, sales force, and field service automation). On My Browse Data Plans with a monthly megabyte (MB) or gigabyte (GB) allowance, once you exceed your monthly allowance you will be automatically charged for overage as specified in the applicable rate plan information (generally per Kb for any data used or a fee for additional MB allowances to be used during the month). All data allowances must be used in the billing period in which the allowance is provided. We may, at our discretion, suspend your account if we believe your data usage is excessive, unusual or is better suited to another rate plan. If you are on a data plan that does not include a monthly MB/GB allowance and additional data usage rates, you agree that CVW has the right to impose additional charges if you use more than 1 GB in a month; provided that, prior to the imposition of any additional charges, CVW shall provide you with notice and you shall have the right to terminate your Service.
Microsoft Direct Push: Requires Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server with Service Pack 2 or newer and, with respect to each end user, a compatible device operating on a Windows Mobile 5 platform (with Message Security Feature Pack) and an email account enabled with Direct Push. CVW does not sell, supply, install or otherwise support Microsoft software, products or services (including without limitation, Exchange and Direct Push). Pooled My Browse Data Plans: Pooled My Browse Data Plans ("Pooled Plans") are available only to customers with a qualified CVW business or government account. To pool together, each Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan in the Pool must subscribe to a Pooled Plan that has the same amount of Included Usage and the same Additional Kilobyte charge ("Similar Pooled Plan"). Every billing cycle, each Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan first uses his or her Included Usage. If a Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan does not use all his or her Included Usage it creates an underage in the amount of unused kilobytes ("Under Usage"). If a Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan uses more than his or her Included Usage it creates an overage with respect to kilobytes of data usage ("Over Usage"). The Pool's Under Usage kilobytes and Over Usage kilobytes are then aggregated respectively and compared. If the aggregate Under Usage kilobytes exceed the aggregate Over Usage kilobytes, then no Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan in the Pool pays Additional Kilobyte charges. If the aggregate Over Usage kilobyte exceeds the aggregate Under Usage kilobytes, then the ratio of Under Usage kilobytes to Over Usage kilobytes is applied to the data usage of each Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan in the Pool with Overage Usage, resulting in a monetary credit against the corresponding Additional Kilobyte charges. For example, if a Pool has 900 Under Usage kilobytes and 1000 Over Usage kilobytes (90%), then each Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan with Over Usage will receive a credit equal to 90% of his or her Additional Kilobyte charges. Business My Browse Air Card Data Plan’s changing price points or migrating to Pooled Plans during a bill cycle may result in one-time prorations or other minor impacts to the credit calculation.
