Accessing hotmail.com
I've sent emails to support@cvalley.net the last couple days and have gotten no response so I thought I would try the forum.... For the last couple of days I have not been able to get access to my hotmail email account by going to www.hotmail.com.Each time I try the message comes back "The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading..." I know that the www.hotmail.com address resolves to a different IP address depending on a person's location on the internet to handle load balancing. I have a Remote Desktop connection to a machine in Carlsbad, California and from that machine I can access www.hotmail.com and get my mail, but I can not access www.hotmail.com directly from my connection here in Salisbury. Is it possible that the DNS server has a problem? Greg Dance IP address 65.255.148.150 Subnet mask 255.255.255.128 Gateway 65.255.148.129 DNS 208.218.32.119 and 208.218.32.118

I worked with Greg on this issue. He was able to find a setting on his Internet router causing a problem. The following is his reply:
OK, got it tracked down... In the router there was an Internet Access restriction in place to prevent inline advertisements from sleezy companies. It looks like one of the addresses hotmail resolves through now was in that list. I found the information I needed in the router's system log.
